Place filled with painful history of defeated Silla, the only royal tomb of Silla that is located in Gyeonggi-do

新罗败亡期的痛苦历史所在地方，新罗王陵中唯一位于京畿道的敬顺王陵

 
Historic site No.244, The Royal Tomb of King Gyeongsun is the only royal tomb of Silla that is located in Gyeonggi-do. So why is this tomb in Yeonchun instead of Gyeongju?

作为史迹第244号的敬顺王陵是唯一脱离庆州地区安葬在京畿道的新罗王陵。应该在庆州的新罗的王陵怎么会在涟川地方？

 
When Gyeongsun became a king, Silla was falling apart. When King Gyeonhwon of post Baekjae invaded Silla, King Gyeongae, who was the king at that time, asked help from King Wanggeon of Goryeo. However, before soldiers of Goryeo could reach Silla, Gyeongae was forced to kill himself by Gyeonhwon. Gyeongsun, who was the relative of King Gyeongae, became a king to rectify the situation, although he did not really want to become a king. Gyeongsun then welcomed Wanggeon, who arrived in Silla a year after, and built strong friendship with him. At the year 935, when the lands around Silla was owned by other countries, he surrendered them to Wanggeon, and at that moment His son cried and gave up his position for Gyeongsun, then went to Geumgangsan Mountain. He is the Prince Mauitaeja.

敬顺王登上王位是在新罗走向亡国之路的时期。公元927年后，百济的甄萱侵犯新罗，当时的国王景哀王向高丽太祖王建请求支援，但高丽的军士到达之前被甄萱强制性自裁。景哀王的亲戚中，其弟敬顺王为了收拾残局，不得已登上了王位。敬顺王隆重接待次年访问新罗的太祖王建并有了交情，935年新罗周围的国土都被其它国家占领，遂向王建降服。此时，太子边哭边向敬顺王辞行，然后隐遁金刚山，就是麻衣太子。

Wanggeon let his eldest daughter marry Gyeongsun, and he married the cousin of Gyeongsun, making Geyongsun the royal family of Goryeo. When Gyeongsun died, the people of Silla wanted to take him to Gyeongju, which is his homeland. However, the law of Goryeo stated that royal family of Goryeo could not be buried outside of Goryeo. This is why the tomb of Gyeongsun was made in Gyeonggi-do.

王建让敬顺王跟自己的长女结婚，自己也跟敬顺王的堂妹结婚，由此敬顺王成了高丽的王族。978年敬顺王去世，新罗游民想把敬顺王安葬在国王的故乡-庆州，但已经成为高丽的王族，无法在庆州建立敬顺王的陵墓。因为法律规定高丽的王族生与死都不可以离开都城100里以外。由此，敬顺王的陵墓定在离开京80里距离的京畿道长湍郡南八里，也就是现在的长南面高浪浦里。

 
The tomb disappeared throughout the Imjin war, and then was found during Yeongjo of Joseon. Since no one took care of the tomb during the Korean War, it was in danger of being lost, but in 1970, a soldier found the tomb and it was designated as historic site No.244.

陵墓经过壬辰倭乱与丙子胡乱一度销声匿迹，但到了朝鲜英祖时期发现地基石，就重新建筑陵墓。6.25战争之后，经过数十年间无人管理，再次处于被烧毁的危机，但在1970年代，有一个士兵发现倒在杂草丛林的墓碑，以此为契机，今天被指定为史迹第244号。
