Lavender Festival

Every June, a lavender festival is held at ‘Hani Lavender Farm’ in Goseong. ​The Lavender Festival, which runs for about two weeks from June 5 to June 23 this year, allows you to see lavender in full bloom and various flowers if you go at the right blooming time.

Lavender Field

This year, lavender blooms late, New lavender was planted, so when I visited, I couldn't see any lavender in full bloom. However, there were lavenders everywhere in the large field, so I could smell the scent of lavender everywhere. In addition to looking at the lavender, you can eat lavender ice cream, You can also enjoy various experiences such as making lavender oil using lavender.

Poppy / Lavender

In addition to lavender, you can also see various flowers such as hydrangeas, roses, and poppies, giving it an exotic feel.

Metasequoia forest / Metasequoia road / Lavender colored tractor

As you walk along the viewing path, you will come across a metasequoia forest that blocks the hot sunlight and provides a cool breeze. You can also take pictures at the photo zone set up in the dense metasequoia forest. This lavender festival is said to be in full bloom around mid to late June, so we recommend visiting during the festival period.

DMZ Museum view

The DMZ Museum is a space reconstructed through exhibits such as the scenes before and after the Korean War, the Military Demarcation Line created by the Armistice Agreement, and military conflicts. To visit the museum, you must register and complete security training at the entry/exit registration center.

North Korean goods / Wooden boat taken when defecting from North Korea

At the entrance to the museum, you can see wooden boats and items belonging to North Korean defectors. These wooden boats were used by North Korean defectors to defect by sea, and the simple process of defecting from North Korea was explained, including when, where, and how many North Korean defectors came on board.

Korean War Exhibition Materials

It contains content from the start of the Korean War to the ceasefire. You can vividly see the pain of division caused by the war as the creation of the Demilitarized Zone resulting from the ceasefire, relics of those killed in the Korean War, anti-personnel mines, and wooden box mines are on display.

However, even after the ceasefire, there were major and small incidents in our country, such as the discovery of tunnels, espionage incidents, the attack on the Cheonan, broadcasts to North Korea, and leaflets. You can see the content that dealt with these and the materials that were actually used.

Outdoors, you can see the loudspeakers used in actual broadcasts to North Korea and a large electronic display board that serves as a guide for North Korean defectors, as well as the barbed wire fence walking experience area, DMZ photo zone, and self-propelled artillery tanks on display.

VR Ocean Adventure Center Entrance

VR Ocean Adventure Center is a space where you can experience marine sports in virtual reality. In addition to marine sports, you can use hot air balloons, roller coasters, and slide ball pools.

Although the adventure hall is not large, you can enjoy a total of 9 VR experiences within it. You can experience virtual reality such as rafting through a difficult canyon, water biking through a valley on a bike, fishing to catch fish in the sea, and hot air ballooning to tour Goseong's representative tourist attractions. The ride moved according to the attraction environment and speed, making the experience even more realistic.

Pium Healing Park Entrance

Pium Art Center is a complex cultural space that I learned about while preparing for a trip to Goseong. There are various cultural facilities within the Pium Art Center, including an art gallery, exhibition hall, lodging, and a cafe.

Sculptor Lee Min-soo's sculptures are on display, and they are very large pieces depicting people. As soon as I entered the museum, I was amazed by the sculptures I encountered and felt dynamic, as if they were expressing movement. Artworks could be seen not only inside the exhibition hall but also outside.

Inside the art museum

Go to the art museum and view various works of art. An exhibition of Kim Chang-wan’s work that I learned about while viewing. It is exhibited under the name of Kim Chang-wan, a painter, not Kim Chang-wan as a singer. In addition, you can see the works of various painters with vivid colors, and the colorful paintings in a colorless space are a delight to the eyes. Although Pium Art Center does not have many tourists yet, it seems to be one of the hidden travel destinations where you can see various works of art along with nature.
