The sea in the mountain with deep blue gentle waves
碧绿的水波就像波浪般荡漾的山里的大海
Hwacheon Dam that was built in 1944 created the artificial lake, Paroho called ‘the sea in the mountain’. The former name of Paroho was Daebungho. It was the reason why it looked like an imaginary animal, a phoenix flying with outspread wings in the distance. After Korean independence from Japan, Paroho Lake belonged to North Korea, but South Korea got it back at the Korean War. So, the first president, Lee Seungman visited to Hwacheon and gave a new name ‘Paro’ having a meaning of defeat the enemy. It is recommended to take a cruise ship, Mulbitnuriho, from Paroho dock through Bisugumi to Peace Dam to see more Paroho Lake. It takes an hour and a half to admire the beautiful scenery in the blue lake.
1944年建设的华川水库建设了被称为‘山里的大海’的人工湖水-破虏湖。破虏湖最早期的名称是‘大鹏湖’。这是因为从远处眺望时，其模样就像想象中的凤凰展翅飞去。破虏湖在光复之后，曾经隶属于北韩地区，但在6.25战争时成为韩国领土。由此，李承晚首任总统亲自访问华川，写下击破的‘破’与胡虏的‘虏’字，起了新的名称‘破虏湖’。破虏湖无法想象的淡水量告诉我们为什么这里被称为‘山里的大海’。如果想要正确观赏破虏湖的风景，建议乘坐从破虏湖码头出发，经过秘水九美到和平水库为止航运的游艇的水光世界号。1小时30分钟的乘船中，破虏湖碧绿的水光与周围秀丽的风光会成为您的好朋友
It is also famous for the winter scenery that is the silvery mist in the early morning. It looks mysterious to suddenly disappear into the sunshine. Let’s go up to the Paroho observatory located in a gentle hill in back of Unification Security Exhibition Hall to look down the whole lake.
破虏湖的冬天风景也是以壮观而闻名。冬天清晨的破虏湖，水雾飘升，整个湖呈现银色。阳光下瞬间消失的清晨水雾，就像暂时从梦中醒来，带来神秘的感觉。如果想要更加仔细地观赏破虏湖的全景，就走到可以一览无遗地看到破虏湖的破虏湖展望台。破虏湖展望台位于破虏湖安保展示馆后侧的乐园，山坡并不高，可以轻松走上去。
